- Entry is $7 per person for ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are free.
- The park is open daily 8am-10pm - far later than most day-use parks, which is what makes the Saturday observatory night work.
- It often reaches capacity and turns cars away. Texas Parks and Wildlife says to reserve a day pass online or by phone in advance to guarantee entry; this is the single most common way a visit here fails.
- The George Observatory opens Saturday nights only, year-round and weather permitting. Tickets must be bought online beforehand - they are not sold at the park - and a park day pass is required on top of the observatory ticket.
- Alligators are common in some areas and the park publishes safety guidance it expects you to read before arriving. They are wild and unfenced.
