Disclosure
Effective September 9, 2026
Experiencing Houston is free to read. Here is exactly how it pays for itself and how its content is made, so you can weigh our recommendations with that in mind.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and book or buy something, we may earn a commission. It never costs you more. The price you pay is the same as going to the partner directly, and sometimes lower, because some partners give our readers a discount.
We work with, or have applied to, these programs: Viator, Expedia, CityPASS (via CJ Affiliate), Ticketmaster, OpenTable, GetYourGuide, Amazon. Affiliate links open in a new tab and carry the rel="sponsored" attribute. Buttons and links that can earn us a commission sit next to a short note saying so, and this page is linked from every footer.
This disclosure is made in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guides on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).
Editorial independence
Partners don't choose what we recommend, and we don't rank places or events by commission. A place with no booking partner sits above a bookable one whenever it is the better choice. If a partner relationship ever created a conflict with honest advice, the advice wins.
Advertising
We may show display ads served by Google AdSense and, later, other ad networks. Ad networks may use cookies to show ads based on your interests; you can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. Ads are marked as such and are never dressed up as recommendations.
Sponsored content
Venues, organizers, and brands can pay for clearly labeled placements: a featured listing, an event spotlight, or a newsletter sponsorship. Every paid placement carries a visible Sponsored label. Paid placements never change our editorial rankings, and we decline sponsors we would not recommend to a friend.
AI-assisted content
Three parts of the site use artificial intelligence, and it is worth knowing which:
- The concierge and the trip planner generate answers on the spot. They are restricted to our curated knowledge base of places, neighborhoods, opening hours, and current events, and they are told to say "check their site" rather than guess. They can still make mistakes.
- Some written guides are drafted with AI from the same knowledge base, then checked automatically against it so that unsupported prices, hours, and other specifics are removed. Pages that were produced this way carry a "written with AI assistance" note. Curated place pages and neighborhood pages are written and ranked by hand.
- The events calendar is assembled automatically every day from official ticketing feeds. Dates and prices are the organizer's; confirm on the ticket page before you go.
