Scout Bar

Scout Bar is the Clear Lake rock room: two bars and a separate DJ floor in a marina strip off Egret Bay, half an hour south of downtown, and the venue where national hard-rock and metal tours stop when they skip the inner loop. The thing that trips people up is the age rule, because it changes by night: the touring shows are almost all ages, the regular bar nights are 18 and up, and the listing for each show is the only place that says which. Parking is free and plentiful, with one catch worth reading before you leave the car.

What the venue actually says

  • Parking is free in the Marina Gate lot and in the office-building lot next door, but do not leave a car overnight in the office lot: towing is enforced the next business day.
  • Almost all national-act shows are all ages; regular nights are usually 18 and up. Check the show's own listing for the age requirement.
  • At all-ages shows, children 14 and under must be with a parent or legal guardian. When a show is listed as 18+ or 21+, that applies to every patron.
  • No smoking inside. There is a large outdoor patio where smoking is permitted.
  • Dress code is casual: shorts, t-shirts and ball caps are fine.
  • Opening a bar tab with a card places a $25 pre-authorisation hold, which can sit pending on your statement for two to three business days.
  • Will Call is paperless: show your ID and the card you bought with at the cashier.
  • Tickets sell online through the venue's site or at the Scout box office during business hours.
  • Doors are typically an hour before the show; the gap varies by night and each listing states both times.
  • Standing general admission is the default; some shows sell reserved tables separately, and a table does not include the GA ticket.
