Punch Line Houston

The Punch Line is a 250-seat comedy club inside the House of Blues complex on Caroline Street, and it is the busiest room on Houston's ticketed calendar - it books more shows than any arena in the city. It is a separate venue from the House of Blues music hall despite the shared address, with its own entrance, so do not queue at the concert doors. Two things catch first-timers out: there is a two-drink minimum per person in the showroom, and there is no re-entry once you are in.

Before you go

What the venue actually says

  • Located at 1204 Caroline St inside the House of Blues complex, with its own dedicated entrance separate from the concert hall.
  • 18 and over, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A valid state ID, US government or military ID, or passport is required.
  • There is a two-beverage minimum per guest in the showroom. Non-alcoholic drinks count towards it - mocktails, sodas, juices and sparkling water all qualify. Food does not count.
  • Seating is general admission and first-come, first-served. Preferred Seating is available on most shows for an extra fee, and is also first-come within its section.
  • Doors open one hour before showtime, except for late shows.
  • No re-entry. Once you leave the venue you cannot come back in.
  • No photography or video during the show, and phones are asked to be off and out of sight.
  • Bags larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches are refused, and no backpacks. The venue's restricted-items list gives a smaller 10 by 10 inch limit, so pack for the smaller number.
  • Valet is available through GreenStreet. Garage parking connects by skybridge from the GreenStreet garage on Clay between Main and Fannin.
  • The box office opens day-of-show only, one hour before doors.
  • Arriving 45 minutes early and entering as a complete group is the venue's own advice for parties who want to sit together; seats cannot be reserved.
