Houston Pride Parade & Festival

Check the date before you plan anything. Houston Pride has moved around the calendar — the 2026 edition, the 48th, ran on the first Saturday of June rather than the end of the month, and the 2027 date is confirmed on Pride Houston's site rather than assumed from last year.

The format is worth knowing too: parade and festival are the same day and the same place, centred on City Hall, running from late morning into the night. That is a long day in June heat, and the people who enjoy it most treat it as two trips — the festival in the afternoon, a break, then back for the parade after dark.

Watching is free. There are ticketed areas with seating and shade, which in a Houston June is a more serious upgrade than it sounds.

Downtown closes streets around City Hall and the surrounding blocks fill early. METRORail's Red Line runs through downtown and is the sane way in; driving means finding a garage outside the closure and walking regardless.
